I have one of the quietest bathroom fans in existence. Its only flaw is that it requires this type of bulb. It came with a 2700K bulb in it and I just hated how ugly and yellow the light was. Every time I'd look for a replacement, I could only find bulbs of this type in the yellow end of the spectrum.

Note the description of the item: F42TBX/840. The "42" in "F42" refers to the wattage: 42 watts. The "40" in "840" seems to refer to the color temperature. My old bulb was a F42TBX/827, and had a color temperature of 2700K. This one probably has a color temperature of 4000K, not 4100K, but whatever. It's whiter. I am happy. Nothing makes a bathroom look dirtier and smaller than yellow light.
