Lots of traditional photo reflectors were designed so that they only work with longer necks on photo flood lamps, which can make use with CFLs impossible.

One real advantage of using daylight balance CFLs (around 5000 to 5500� Kelvin color temperature) is that you do not need to worry about a mixture of daylight + artificial light in your work area causing any color imbalance. And of course you don't die of the heat thrown off by the lamps as you can with "hot" continuous lighting.

And I have seen no issues of flicker that I worried about. What little video equipment I have has a native frame rate of 60 frames per second so I really expected that I might have problems.
