To use these RGB LEDs properly, you really do need some background in soldering. The only downside to this product is that doubled sided tape that is on the backside of the strip can come away from the waterproof strips, creating small humps where the LED strip is not adhering to whatever surface you're using. If these are going to be a permanent attachment to whatever project surface you're using, I would peel as much of the original double sided tape off and use the 3M gray heavy duty double sided tape. Much more durable, and really keeps the LED strips evenly flat. I really wish they would do away with the double sided tape, but it's not a big deal.
