This was my first extensive use of CFL's and these particular bulbs have surprised me very much. I don't think CFL's work for every situation, however, in specific applications they're great. I used these in my walk-in closet and my walk-in shower. The light is very similar to that of natural sunlight as reflected through a Solatube (of which I have two).

They come on instantly, but are a bit dim initially. After about two minutes, though, they are a full brightness and perform wonderfully. Once again, not for every place, but they do have their place!
