While rearranging my office, I noticed that my printer cable was now way to short to reach my computer. Since I was very happy with the new layout of my office, I figured I would simply head to a big box tech store and buy me a longer cable. I asked for help finding it and the store clerk to me right to an 11 ft cable that was gold-plated. I grabbed it and proceeded to check out when I realized I had not checked the price. I was in utter disbelief when I saw how much the thing cost!!! I found the clerk that helped me and asked if they had a cheaper version (even though the one I had was the store's brand)! He said no and told me that it was expensive because it was gold-plated. I asked if there was a non-gold available and he told me no and that because of the length, I actually needed to have one that was gold-plated. I have a home-based business and had to have the cable for my printer. So, I purchased and headed home.

Later that night, I was still a bit flustered about the darn cable costing so much; therefore, I began searching online prices and saw that Amazon.com had an even longer one (15 ft) for less than half of what the big box store had charged me and it was gold-plated! I moved my printer to a temporary spot to reach my computer while I awaited the cable, which took about 2 weeks or more to arrive...I was not happy about that at all!!! However, once I plugged it in and saw that it worked, I proceeded back to the big box store to give them their expensive item back and have my money refunded!!! It is sad that even store-branded items cost so much and are not any better (many times) than name-brand or even generic items.
