This GPT-M series copper wire has an orange PVC outer cover for insulation and is suitable for use in marine propulsion and automotive wiring applications. The PVC (polyvinyl chloride) insulation has an operating temperature range of -40 to +105 degrees C. This stranded copper wire is annealed for improved ductility and meets the SAE J378 standards for electrical wiring in marine propulsion systems and SAE J1128 standards for electrical wiring in surface vehicles. This copper wire is suitable for use at up to 50VDC as primary wiring for boats and 60VDC for trucks, buses, tractors, and trailers.

This orange jacketed copper wire cost less then half that of red and black jacketed wire. I guess nobody thought about how cheap red and black electrical tape is!

I bought 100' of this wire to rig a fishing boat and a hunting truck. The wire comes spooled and wrapped in a retail package. I don't see the color fading any time soon, not that it matters to me what color the wire is.. I wrapped the see-able end in color coded tape. All in all, it's marine rated stranded copper wire.. what's not to like?
