I bought this as a pump union for my in-ground pool and hot tub. I was restricted in pipe length and needed the smallest union available. Another concern was if this fitting was PVC or CPVC since the unit would be seeing incoming water as high as 105f- the upper side of pvc temp ratings. Neither the vendor nor the manufacturers web site states the material. The fitting is not stamped, The o ring seemed a bid small for a 2 inch fitting. It works though, no problem. Great price, quick delivery Hayward fittings are smoother and hand tightened
