I bought a used B&W sub woofer from a local stereo store and the clerk gave me the typical 18 gage/ 3 wire power cord. My very basic electrical experience told me that feeding an amp rated at 1000 watts with 18 gage wire would technically choke it from power which may have effect on the ability of capacitors to recharge, which could effect audible performance. I wanted to remedy this without buying one of those crazy monster cords or equivalent over priced crap. This fit the bill perfectly. It was reasonably priced and I do noticed an audible difference in the subs performance. I apologize in advance for this rant but I cant ever see increasing the gage of a power cord to 8awg or even a 10awg as some power cord builders suggest. My house is fairly new being built in 2004. The wiring from my service (circuit breaker box) to the outlet is 14awg per NEC code for a 15 amp circuit. (smaller the awg number the larger the diameter of the wire) If I plug a 1 meter long 8 gage power cord into an outlet fed with 14 gage romex, what benefit does it do? Ask yourself this as well. Do I really need to shield 1 meter of cord? If you cant think of a realistic answer, save yourself the $200 on the AV jewelry and buy this instead. Most of the consumer Reviews tell that the "14AWG Power Cord Cable w/ 3 conductor PC power connector socket (C13/5-15P) -..." are high quality item.
