Product Description
The all-copper forged thin-pin design provides nominally better performance than earlier MCX159 designs. The Optional Ultra quiet (18 dBA) VAPO bearing Sunon 40mm fan offers superior MTBF to most stock chipset fans, guaranteeing peace of mind for 5 years or more. This extreme duty heatsink, coupled with Sunon's whisper quiet and high reliability fan make the MCX159-CU an ideal companion to our "V" series heatsinks. This solution is also suggested as an alternative for use with liquid cooling systems in lieu of a chipset waterblock. It provides in effect more than sufficient cooling performance without adding unnecessary restrictions to high-flow cooling systems. This will result in overall lower temperatures at the CPU and VGA level, where it really counts. The MCX159-CU is shipped with hold-down mechanisms for both Intel and AMD platforms.Swiftech MCX159-CU Universal Chipset Heatsink (Fan Not Included!) Review
Works better than my Zalman ZN-NBF47 heat sink did. Even though, that was a pretty dam good heat sink too. I had to lap the heat sink though. It did come with a surface scratch on the base. Worked a lot better after I lapped the heat sink. The fins on it are very easy to bend when installing the heat sink. You have to be extremely careful and hold it by the base only. If you bend the fins, as I recently learnt, that will affect its heat conduction abilities. I straightened the fins out with a credit card and a flat tipped screw driver. It is low profile so it should fit in any case. It fitted nicely in my micro-btx case without any problems. I actually have 2.5 inches or so to spare, so I could put a fan on top if I need. You do not need the fan, but a fan sure does help. Some say this heat sink is over kill, but it did solve my computer freezing and stalling which were due to heat. Problems the Zalman ZN-NBF47 did not. The north bridge chip set can get very, very hot so this heat sink will help a lot. The heat sink can become loose it not installed very snugly. I had to play around with the clip (paper clip looking thing that goes on the u shaped anchors on the mother board), I adjusted it a lot, until I got it to fit snugly. Anyways, it is very snug now. I do though, suggest using the screws if you have that option on your mother board as it will hold much snugger. Most of the consumer Reviews tell that the "Swiftech MCX159-CU Universal Chipset Heatsink (Fan Not Included!)" are high quality item.
